This page has been in my life for several years now and sometimes felt like a part of the family so I thought I would share these memories of my boy Tex who passed away a year ago today.
It was one year ago today that Tex passed away.
He was my best buddy and at times the only light during some very dark times and it is no stretch to say that he kept me alive.
I thought about posting these videos and was worried about how sad it would be but I found myself smiling the entire time. It was good to stroll down memory lane.
I truly do appreciate what he brought to my life and to those people in the world that would allow him to bring the same kind of joy.
I have told lots of stories about Tex but two things stand out most. Going to the adult dayhab and entertaining those mentally challenged people was very rewarding. The best experience there was when we would all go out for a walk around the complex and I would let them leash walk Tex.
These people didn't get to have much responsibility in their lives and they were always so happy/shocked/surprised when I would hand them Tex's leash. They would walk along with him and they had the biggest smile or they were concentrating so hard and just lost in the moment with him. And of course he just ate it all up and was SO savvy and good on the leash. He really made those people's day and I was just lucky to be there and see those big smiles.
The second thing happened one year ago today. About four o'clock the phone rang and it was the vet telling me that all the other tests were negative and the only thing that it could be was cancer. While I am on the phone Tex got up and was slowly making his way down the hall. He was very sick and had been through a week of having a tough time breathing. I followed along, still on the phone with the vet, and soon realized Tex was trying to get outside. I let him out in the back yard and he pooped as I told the vet I was bringing Tex to the office. We went from there to the car and to the vet's office and then Tex was gone.
It was his last hour of life, you could see he felt so bad and he was STILL doing the right thing. I hope that I can show such virtue at my worst. For those who have heard that story before I wanna say sorry for hearing it again....but instead I will say your welcome.
